Powertug
This boat was built before I was born. It’s one of the few motor boats my father
built. It originally had three
propellers which I found fascinating.
Looking to graduate to something more substantial than Tuggy, I expressed an interest in sailing it. My father got it into running condition and
put an old radio control in it. I
originally called it “Three Propeller Speed” but changed the name to Powertug when the central propeller was removed. After a couple of years, I lost interest in
sailing it and it sat on a shelf for a few years. When my father became interested in racing, Powertug was modified to launch and retrieve the buoys used
to mark the course. When it came close to my father’s retirement time, Powertug didn’t fit into his plans. Below is the only picture I have of this
boat, taken at Central Park.
